Since you can wear these colors, I would suggest a more pastel colored dress. Some great online dress stores are New York dress and misses dressy.

-Natural isn't really what they want. Like they want glamorous, just not over the top slacked lashes and super exaggerated makeup like on those creepy child pageants.
-They want everyday extraordinary girls.
-You will NOT get noticed if you play it safe and wear what everybody else is wearing.(. For example, this dress in this pic. I have seen SOOO many girls wear this for pageants and proms. Just stay away from stuff like this.)
-They do NOT like BIG POOFY DRESSES on the older girls. You are old enough to not dress like a fairy take Princess or a cupcake. Wear something sleek but not too mature
-DONT have a slit, you're too young. You can't dress like Beyonce if you're closer in age to Blue than her.

Don't do a pageant if you're not wanting to stand out. That will not help your confidence issues. And you'll just waste money. Makeup-wise if you choose to follow through, you need to wear more makeup than you are probably comfortable with in every day life. The lights will wash you out completely if you don't. And even though you are colored, it wouldn't be a bad idea to self tan either- it will give your skin a little extra color and dimension for when the lights hit you.

^ exactly Danielle! If anything, that will be counteractive. I know I would be feeling inferior to a bunch of Beyonce's walking around. Pageants can be a boost but it's definitely not just a "everybody gets a trophy thing." There's no real boost if you just go and get a trophy because you're there. You will spend a lot and you can just say you PAID for that trophy, you didn't earn it because of merit lol. Pageants are not the way to go for confidence, in my opinion. It's just what everyone claims and how they get your money. They cost HUNDREDS of dollars in the end and there are a lot of other outlets to get your confidence from that won't cost a fortune.

Symone...your hair! OMG, love!! Sorry...
@Triara, okay...here comes the mom opinion. While I don't have pageant experience, I do have some life experience and was made fun of in my early teens. So much so, it turned into a physical attack. I was a straight A student blah blah blah but with ZERO confidence. I don't think pageants are the way to go unless you're going to put the work in to succeed at it. That's where the confidence comes from- working hard at something, doing your best, getting knocked down, then going back and succeeding. For me, I found the martial arts. Find something you want to devote yourself to. otherwise you're just wasting your parents money.

My experience again is limited as I went from barely heard of Miss America land to an area where they have a pageant for everything. If you want to be more "natural", try more venues like 4H. But they still like their queens to be well, pageant queens.

Lol. It's hard out here for a pageant girl. I went from in a pageant with girls who have been doing this all their life, have the best coaches, have a glam squad and been doing the same pageant for 7 years trying to win. Then here I come, literally curling my hair in a corner alone lol. The competition is fierce and the harsh reality that true "natural beauty" isn't acknowledged in the pageant world.

I completely agree with these ladies you go into something to give it your all not to just skate by going in half done will do nothing but break your confidence down
