Try to use dry shampoo. Don't play with your hair either. Oils from your hands can cause your hair to get oily. Try to only wash your hair ever other. The more you wash it the more oil your hair produces.

I suggest you use a sulfate and paraben free shampoo and conditioner, I have naturally dry hair but when I used to use the Redken shampoo and conditioner duo my hair used to get so oily people asked me if I had massages my hair when I went out, it felt so icky. Only the day I washed it, it felt okay. Having suffered from way too much oiliness I switched to Deva low poo system first, it contains lesser sulfates and parabens, and it helped reduce oiliness in the first month of use. Since 4 months now, my hair has been loving the Deva no poo sulphate free system and I have had not a single oily hair mess day, I do go back to the low poo system if my hair has product build up but I will never go back to using regular shampoo again.

I have heard that washing your hair everyday will cause it to produce too much oil. You may have to deal with really oily hair for a bit but, eventually it will adjust. (Maybe choose a long wknd)

I do some baking soda with tea tree oil when I have build up.

OK so...Jane C is right. washing your hair every day strips it of all your natural oils which causes your scalp to produce more oils to replace what you striped out at a more rapid rate. your scalp will eventually adjust to being washed every other day, but it may be oily for a while. on the second day I would recommended wearing your hair in a pony tail. I wash my hair about twice a week. also, when you condition your hair, only do the ends. mid shaft on down. then take whatever is left on your hands and lightly run it thru from scalp down. you don't need to pile the conditioner on your roots/scalp. that will make your hair more oily.

My fav shampoos that work on my oily crazy scalp are Normal Persons by Evo, Juicy by Lush, Phyto Intelligent or one for oil, Kevin Murphy Angel Rinse... Maybe try one of those bad boys! ;)

I never condition my scalp either, only the ends.
