@Hilda
For physical exfoliation, you can use oatmeal ( grinded up in your blender ) or jojoba beads, even white sugar ( very refined and very gentle ) can be used. These are all DIY recipes, of course and should be done gently and in circular motions.
You can use a product with AHA or BHA. BHA generally exfoliates the skin and the pores so it is ideal for those with black heads.
I always used oatmeal for exfoliation... it is very soft and very soothing for the skin.

Thanks breanna :/ I am truly sorry jacqlyn, I didn't realize what a bitch I sounded like... (Excuse my language) I didn't mean to turn this whole subject into a childish argument I started

Please Don't Stop Giving Advice Jacqlyn, I Always Look Forward To You Commenting & Giving Advice! 😩 You Are Honestly So Sweet. I Think Its Just Hard To Tell What Kind Of Tone Somebody May Have While Reading What They Have Typed. 😔 Please Just Reconsider What You Just Said?

We all need to consider the fact that everyone will have their own opinions about certain methods and respect it. I am sure no one here meant to be insulting/rude/disrespectful. Jacqlyn just wanted to shed some light and help so that no one makes skin care mistakes that can cost them and I am sure Katherine just wanted to share that it did help her with her acne.
We need to all keep an open mind and remember this is all text, so it is very easy to become confused and interpret things incorrectly. No one should feel discouraged to share their knowledge, like Jacqueline H say's it's not worth anything unless it is shared.
I hope we can all bypass this as a community, Beautylish is supposed to be a fun place for us to all share our addiction to beauty and I personally do not want to see members leaving or become discouraged as each and every one of you is valuable to Beautylish and it is incredible to see members from different parts of the country/world all coming together to share the one thing we all enjoy. Beautylish is a family and all families argue but at the end of the day they over look it because all they have is each other just like all I have are you guys. :)

Now if we can all get back to the topic of exfoliation so that the poster can obtain all of our knowledge ☺

I do twice a week but if I feel that my skin is getting irritated I'll skip a few days and do once a week for a month or so.

Also, I think the small fight that was going on in the above comments is just wrong. You ALL have a lot of good advice! Jacqlyn was not the one being rude. She just kept reminding people that not everyone's skin can handle baking soda and in fact from what I've heard and seen; most people faces can't handle it. This site is supposed to be a safe place where we can all share opinions. Of all of you I think Jacqlyn and Breanna and being the most tolerant and the kindest in this situation... That is all...

One to two times a week for exfoliating. And baking soda is way more alkaline than our skins pH which is slightly acidic. So you shouldn't use it on your skin if you don't have the proper products to balance your skin back out after.

1-2 times a week, and I have dry skin. I use Soap and Glory 'scrub of your life' for body exfoliation and Elemis Rose Facial Exfoliator for exfoliating my face.

I think the problem was that people took it as a personal attack that they were disagreed with...like who cares, guys. Do a patch test, see if it won't irritate your skin, and then use it if you want to. Everyone's skin IS different and I don't think it's wrong to disagree or share a different opinion than someone else. Everyone has valuable input. Just because someone disagrees with you does NOT mean they're being disrespectful, mean, or wrong. Renay T said it perfectly

As for exfoliating, try once a week and then adjust by what your skin wants
