So I looooove the crazy effect that coconut oil has had on my hair - so now I am thinking if I could use it on the tips of my lashes to get them just as strong and healthy as my hair?

I know right, miracle worker! But you have to be sooo careful what you put near your eyes, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea :)

No, it's bad to put any oil/Vaseline near your eyes. It can cause really bad infections by causing bacteria to stick to your lashes even more. I'd suggest just a conditioning mascara, I know tarte has one, other than that just try not to leave mascara on overnight and you'll have great lashes :)

Yeah I thought so :) I knew Vaseline was bad, and I expected coconut oil might be the same :) I just switched to a mineral mascara which is doing wonders for my lashes, and I would never in a million years sleep with my mascara on! I just wanted to do something extra for my lashes you know ;)

I use coconut oil to take my eye makeup off every night and it helps:)

It's the same as putting castor/any other oil on your lashes. It makes a breeding ground for bacteria and you're more likely to get infections. I'd just use coconut oil to remove makeup, then remove the oil afterwards.

Sabrina, Coconut Oil...unlike petroleum, contains natural antibacterial properties. It is anti-fungal and anti-viral.

Hey what effects/results have you had? I've been using it for few weeks and it has literally transformed my hair! Why don't you use castor oil for your lashes?
Mar 27, 2014
Sabrina K.
I don't use castor oil for my lashes because it is not available in the country I live in, also I'm not sure it is safe to use near your eyes.
Well I been using coconut oil on my hair for about a month now, so not that long, but my hair looks and feels so healthy and my ends are looking great!

I'm a skin and hair information/health junkie..lol Other oils truly are bad for eyes and nothing aside from a prescription is going to grow your lashes, but coconut oil keeps hair soft, head and lashes.
Coconut Oil can clog pores in some individuals. Pores have never been issue for me so I use it without incident. If you are concerned about use on your face, apply it only to the lashes...using a q-tip..with your eye shut..after your evening eye moisturizer. I would only use Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil. Heating removes most of its natural benefits. Keep food grade oil for cooking. ;)

Nice! Now I know who to hassle for info ;)
I'm not searching for something to make my lashes grow, I know nothing will really do that and my lashes are on the long side, I just want to keep them in good condition :)
I'm not going to use it on my face I think, I like all my face creams to much to switch, but I will try it on my lashes for a while now to se if I get some good results with that :)
Thanks for being so sweet!
