I have gauged my ears before but they were just really small (10s) but I want to gauge them bigger I want plugs. But I am really debating on it because I still want to wear cute studs and cute earrings.

It's stretching >.< But there are still quite cute plugs for bigger sizes! If you still like regular earrings consider getting second holes or your cartilage and mixing and matching your stretchers with your earrings, that's what I used to do :)

I couldn't gauge my ears because I love earrings too much! 💚
Just think about it. No more studs, danglies or hoops! If you're okay with that, then go for it!

Renay I don't know much about it. I guess I was thinking the bigger ones? Do they close?

Hmmm that's interesting. Thank you clarifying!
I guess it's just my initial thought when I see people talking about stretching is "no earrings!" Which is like my biggest fear lol!

You can buy every size at Spencers actually Jacqlyn. :) its a person decision Brianna, you can go small and if you don't like them then theyll close, but if you blow out (they tear and get infected) make sure to take them out. if youre planning on going big make sure its what you want, my mom works for a plastic surgeon and she said after surgery (depending on size) your ears will never be the same. I personally just think its not worth it because you may not like them in a few years. But you do you and don't mind other peoples opinions :) my boyfriends are 1 1/8 and I think they're sexy <3.

I had double zeros I loved them than I had to take them out and my ears will never be the same. I want to get them done again but I'm scared to rip them or something , go for it they're raw!!

@jacqlyn what's blow outs? I think that happen to me cause I gaged up fast in like a month I went from 8 to 4 to 00.

Well if you don't like them, you can just let them close! :) you can wear hoops or dangling earrings still as long as the back isn't short like on studs :)

I say keep them small enough that they can go back! Just in case in the future you no longer want them.

Lol @kat A for real I need like the big back pieces to be able to keep my earrings in place they always tend to come all the way through

Lol, you don't have to have surgery to have them closed, I had mine stretched to 22mm and when I took them out it took 2 weeks before I could wear earrings again, I'm currently in the same boat as you are and trying to decide whether I want to stretch again. I say go for it, it really isn't as big of a commitment people seem to think it is. Just make sure you wait at least 4 weeks between stretches and try not use steel plugs/tunnels/tapers because they're what make people's ears smell bad.

I can't even see Emily's comment! And yes I am going to have to wait and have a deep thought about this and I know they are called stretched but my dad always referred to his ears as gauged and he's the one that helped me when I first did it lol

I had gone to a 2 about 3 or 4 years ago. I closed them up for that exact reason... I like my earings too much... and I did have second and even third piercings. its a personal desicion but don't get too far then change your mind because thatll suck!

Okay so I saw some comments about buying jewelry from HotTopic and Spencer's. I would suggest that as a no. The jewelry they have there isn't bad but it's not the best quality. If you're going to stretch your ears you want to make sure you take care of them and get good quality jewelry. DO NOT EVER WEAR/ STRETCH WITH SILICONE. Silicone is horrible for your ears and can cause blowouts.
There are also company's that will make plugs with earrings attached, or even earrings you can wear with your plugs. No, they won't be cute little studs but they are still pretty cute. I was at 2" about 6 months ago, but I downsized my lobes to 1 5/8s to thicken them up.

Like you said, some people have to have them surgically closed. I knew someone that could fit a coke can in his ear, they had to have them surgically closed. My 22mms closed fine, wearing earrings right now and could do so within the first week. There are ways to help them shrink back without surgery also, let them shrink as much as you can then stretch up a size again to help make your body realise it needs to heal. It depends on the elasticity of your ears and whether your lobes are attached or detached, etc. I think it's when you go far too big that you need surgery to fix it, obviously.

Oh! And! Blowouts are horrible. Avoid them at all costs. If you think you're getting one/ have one, TAKE YOUR JEWELRY OUT IMMEDIATELY! Blowouts, depending on how bad they are, can heal themselves. Otherwise you'll need to get them surgically removed, or you can go to a professional body modification place and get them scalped off.
Do NOT force anything into your ear, If your ear is not ready, do not continue to try. I cannot stress that enough.
