In thinking about dying my hair a lighter shade of brown. (I have really dark brown hair) does anyone know if they have to bleach your hair first, like what do they do? If anyone has dyed their hair, let me know what they do please?

I'm a hairstylist. Since you are already dark you have to lighten it with either bleach or high lift color with a strong developer, depending on how much lighter you are wanting to be.

ur gona have to take it step by step if ur hair is really dark don't expect it to be really light at once but bleach is harsh if ur getting it done by a professional make sure they use a good bleach but don't bleach it just go lighter levels like it seems like ur a level 2 try a level 4 with a 30 development and use shampoos that lightning ur hair
