Hi guys! I dye peoples hair just for some extra money and cause it's fun! A girl that lives a couple blocks away from me wants pink in her hair.. She's African American and has that beautiful curly hair. It's not too coarse, it's actually pretty soft. I'm TERRIFIED of ruining her hair! Is it ok too bleach her hair..? Are there any tips on special care? I've never had experience with her type of hair so I want to know exactly what I should do. Thank you SO much!!

u can bleach it (use a very good bleach joico and matrix is really good ) with a lower development like a 20 or 30 add conditioner in the mixture and wen the bleach is on her hair keep checking it don't add hot heat to it let it naturally bleach don't leave it on too long

as from what I see from african american hair being dyed as I am african american myself the results always are hair damage if the hair is going to be dyed on a regular basis and bleaching is worst to do on any hair type it seriously destroys your hair I've been in this situation before and it wasn't fun

I just felt like it would damage her hair more. Yes, bleach damages everyone's hair, hers is just more coarse so I thought I'd be a little more careful. So I think I'll only use a 20 developer.

Do not add conditioner to your bleach...all it will do is give you an uneven result...

Not all powders bleach formulations dilute well...I've seen disastrous results...it can lower the volume of developer...I'm Paul Mitchell trained...and MOST bleaching systems do not work well when diluted...I would rather her not take the risk

Matrix V Light Conditioning De-Dusted Lightener Professional Bleach is a great lightening system for AA hair if you can get your hands on it

Don't do it!!! Have her go to a professional to color, you could really damage her hair !

I agree with Ki. Have her get it done by a professional, particularly one that is well-versed in working with African-American hair.

As a parent of a teenager I would be angry if someone not even licensed colored my childs hair. Do not do it because for one you don't want to risk possibly damaging not only hair and a friendship but the wrath of an angry parent.
