Okay so, this is mostly about confidence. I'm about 4' 9" and I'm petite and kinda flat chested. I have all kinds of amazing, flattering clothes but I constantly wear jeans and a tee because I'm scared of what others will think. Any ideas in how to over cone these fashion jitters?

You have to stop worrying about what other will think and just be happy!

Have fun with fashion! Good luck girl!

Ease yourself into it!
I saw your hair, and it is awesome, almost like a cool accessory, so you can probably make a lot of things look really cool and hip without very much effort! But here's a little advice for you anyways =)

You don't have to wear outrageous or intimidating outfits to be fashionable. One day you'll probably want to, but for starters just make little changes.
#1-Hardest thing to overcome, but most valuable piece of information is do everything you want to, and do it for yourself! Don't think about what others think about your decisions... That is something that takes a lifetime to work on, but hey! it is a great way to live.. and overall you'll probably be a really well adjusted adult if you have a healthy outlook like that. Difficult to do, but beneficial to all areas of your life.

If anyone does happen to say anything that makes you feel bad, its ALMOST ALWAYS because they don't have the confidence to wear whatever they happen to be making fun of. Perhaps something may not be another person's personal taste (can't really blame them for that), but everyone is secretly giving you credit for anything daring you are doing! It gives off the impression that you are confident (even if you aren't, you will start to believe it too)!

So how you can start working up to your fashion potential:
If you like the jeans and tshirt, stick with it.... but do something a little exciting with it! Maybe add a cool piece of jewelry or brightly colored shoes or a cool little handbag. Play with accessories first!
Once you get comfortable with adding a couple little neat pieces, start playing with the actual clothes. You can start by swapping the tee for another type of shirt. It can still be casual, but maybe try a different fabric, or a cool print or color. You can also swap out your jeans: colored and printed jeans are so great! You can pick out a really neat print or a cool color and wear it with a basic tee and still look really fashion forward and confident. These aren't huge changes, but pretty simple ones that will make it easy to get used to trying new things.

Once you get really comfortable with swapping old basics with these kinda revamped basics, you can start trying things you never thought you would wear in public! You'll probably naturally want to try new things and feel confident about it. I think you will get a lot of compliments or questions from just the little changes that it will give you more fashion confidence to try new things. Instead of jumping right in, ease into your fashion choices by testing the water with some cool and easy tricks and you'll most likely be ready to do anything you want.

Oh and another way to look really cool and try new things is by layering!
I think layering looks really great, but you can kinda control what you want to show. You can try a whole new kind of skirt, or even a dress, under things you may be more confortable in like a coy sweater or long sleeves or scarves. You can take things away to show more if you get ore comfortable, or keep covered up with comfort items your used to while still wearing and minimally displaying things that are new to you or out of your comfort zone. That's a cool way to wear one new fashion item a day that you may not be ready to display by itself!

I really don't need help putting together the outfits; I can come up with some pretty cute ones its just I'm afraid of what people would say. Although I did wear a black lace skirt today and got loads of compliments.

Well let me just say, that with your size & build, you can wear practically anything! Embrace the way you look, because it's beautiful! But to answer your question, you won't get over it until you just take that leap & wear what u really want. Confidence isn't automatic, it comes with time. Just get out there & work it girl! :)

That's awesome! You should totally be proud that you stepped out of your comfort zone a little =) You go girl!

And I was thinking earlier... You should like test your outfits out on your friends after school or on the weekends... I used to do that all the time in high school! I would find really cool trends or outrageous stuff to wear but I would wear it when I went out at night, or after school with my friends, or just out to dinner or downtown or something on the weekends, that way I could see how people responded to what I was wearing and more importantly: see how comfortable I felt in it! Sometimes I would bring these trends and outfits into my school wardrobe and other times I would completely retire them or just wear them on the weekends. Just another thought =)

Natalie: Yeah I do that a lot!(: I'll wear something bold on the weekends And if I get a good response, I'll wear it more often. You've been a big help, thanks!(:

I also took your advice on the accessories, adding a cute belt, some fun jewelry, a nice hair piece. You've helped a lot.

Start out with less daring looks and keep adding on as time goes by and then you will be able to work into it instead of BAM all at once

Thanks(: I've been slowly building it up and it feels amazing.

I, too, have a huge inferiority complex and am terrified of judgment. Lots of people tell me, "Just don't care what people think about you," but I know through personal (ongoing) experience that not caring is actually a VERY hard thing to do. To be honest, I'm still self-conscious as heck, although nobody believes me because I seem like a very confident person on the outside. Ironic, huh?
Here are my two cents, from one self-conscious person to another: DON'T FORCE YOURSELF INTO CONFIDENCE. It's an incredibly long and arduous process, and for me, I'm STILL working on it even after 20+ years. I'm as flat-chested as an 11-year-old boy, but that's the least of my worries because feminine confidence is NOT about chest size. (This took me more than ten years to understand.) Take photos of yourself in your pretty clothes and just pretend you're doing a photo shoot. Seems silly, but it kinda helps me when I'm feeling like a toad XP You'll find your good angles and know what poses/expressions/outfits work best for you so not only will you feel good about how look in your photos, you'll also know how to look your best in photos with friends! Slowly let that confidence trickle outside of the confines of your camera.

Also, keep good people around you. I don't want to tell you my life story or anything, but it really helps to have people who care about you as a stable reinforcement in your life. One negative comment from a stranger can tear me down like you wouldn't believe, but good friends won't give up on bringing your smile back.

Good luck =)

girl I'm very big and I rock anything I feel great in I wear bows neon pink lip stick whatever and I have never had more confidence in myself when I dress like myself :) be you

Honestly, just go for it :) I was super afraid to wear anything daring or outside my comfort zone, and when I tried it, I got a lot of compliments. Once you dress how you want, you feel more comfortable, which definitely shows. You'll get more confidence, and everyone's going to be jealous. If you ever need help or advice on an outfit, I'd love to help you.

Bonnie, thank goodness someone else gets that being yourself can be tricky for insecure girls, although you're tips did really help. Thanks a bunch Gigi, I've kinda noticed when I actually wear what I want or change my hair/makeup, I always get compliments.

Yeah, I've tried working on that. It just feels awkward to me when someone compliments my hair, makeup, or clothing.
