Long story short, we've had massive thunder and lightening storms ALL night (like literally, they havent stopped!) and I havent slept because I'm terrified of thunderstorms (anyone else?). It's 5am and I've just been to the toilet, in which we have a mirror. I look DREADFUL, I've got dark circles and bags under my eyes and my face is puffy from lack of sleep. I've literally got no hope in getting to sleep because the thunderstorm is so loud. I either sleep through it or wake up during it and can't sleep again haha:) so, any ideas of what I can use? Preferably DIY, but I do have a few eye creams, such as a Revitalising cream and an Eyebright, which contains cucumber and witch hazel. Any ideas? Thank you girls!xxx

Since you have inflammation under your eyes you could add something cold to it to reduce the swelling. I would put a metal spoon in the freezer for awhile (3 hrs) then place the backside scoop of then spoon in the baggy areas. Usually helps me. Or cut some cucumber and place it in the freezer for awhile and place it on your eyes.

Try slices of cucumbers. They will help with eye puffiness.

I'm also terrified of thunderstorms, all loud noises make me panic
You could try cucumbers or a cold washcloth under your eyes to reduce puffy ness, put on one of your eye creams, and use a brightening concealer for the dark circles.

You can definitely splash your face with some cool (not cold) water. Tea bags can help de-puff your eyes. Drinking plenty of water can help a bit, Make up wise some color correcting concealer can help loads.
I can't sleep either, but with lightning. Lightning here always hit things, including stuff in our backyard. It did this weird thing 3 times last night to our tv where every time it struck a bunch of weird lines went through it and would go black. I ended up just unplugging everything and sitting around until 2am. It's been happening everyday so it's the same issue here.

Christina - Thank you! I'll give that a go, I love the feel of cucumber on my eyes, it's so refreshing!:)
Marie - I'll give that a go, thanks!
Qwaserght - I hate them! Thank you for all the suggestions!
Kitty - I'll give those a go! I have plenty of tea bags in my house haha, the amount I drink of it:)
About an hour ago, the road that backs onto my back garden was swarming with ambulances, there was about 3 or 4 of them. Two houses had been hit by lightening and a teenager out walking (why??) had also been hit by lightening. It's scary that that was literally 10m away from house, my house could've so easily been hit:0 my TV went off for a bit as we lost signal, I was watching the final of something too! We had a storm here last night at about 8pm, which finished at about 10pm. I was terrified but my boyfriend loved it haha:) then it calmed down a lot, but about 12am this morning it started up again and has been going since. It's been the worst storm I've ever seen, and it was so sunny and nice during the day, it was 84 degrees!

Wow! Talk about bipolar weather😒 I hate lightning. It terrifies me! The first time I experienced it was in Texas and we were on a road trip and it was sooo scary because when the lighting flashed you could see how bad it was raining. We eventually stopped because it got so bad!

It's Britain!:) me too, there was so much of it, there was multiple different storms going on at once all around my house and you could see about 6 lightning strikes at once, it was so scary. I thought my house was going to get hit as two houses literally 10m away from my house got hit. That sounds so scary!

I think it's coming to you tonight Beth, it's been on the weather report that it's coming up Norfolk and Birmingham way tonight. It might not be as bad as down south though, think we bore the brunt of it!

Another good thing for puffy eyes...juice cucumber with mint and soak cotton pads in the cucumber juice, then freeze the soaked cotton pads. After about a couple hours put the cotton pads on your eyes. This works wonders :) I always keep these in my freezer :)

I read on an article(on Beautylish, actually) that putting ice in a thin towel and putting it under your eyes make you look more alert. And I feel ya, Hannah, I HATE thunderstorms and lightning storms.

Emma - I'll give it a try, it's 6.30pm here and I look a tired wreck, AND there's another thunderstorm due for tonight:( they really scare me

Frozen green tea bags or frozen cotton pads soaked in green tea. Also, put some kind of lotion or facial oil around your eyes and massage lightly, in outward circles with your index finger joint. When massaging in the circles, massage about 2cm your eyes, to the side of the top bridge if your nose, all the way over your brows and back down. :) Haha I'm not sure if that was clearly explained but the massage will really relax and depuff the eyes as well as relieve the darkness
