I don't have a sewing machine and I usually hem simple jeans or dress pants nicely by hand. I wanted to know if it would be a good idea to hem stretchy yoga pants by hand stitching?

I don't think that it would be, yoga pant fabric is a totally different beast. Personally, I'd get em hemmed by a professional.

They make double sided tape for clothing to hem them I reckon. I'll have to agree with Hannah if that is an option for you.
