If your willing to spend a little bit, then Tartes Maracuja self tanner is wonderful. its never streaky or orange and starts off very gradual. it's buildable and doesn't smell stinky either!

My sister is very fair and likes to use bare minerals faux tan body during the summer. it has a reddish undertone that reflects a natural tan like what you'd get from the sun (nothing orange) and it gives her skin a subtle glow. dries fast, doesn't transfer, and you don't have to wash it off once it has developed.
