Kitty K.

Hello ladies & gents!

I was going through my photos and realized how much more different everything was compared to a couple of months ago.
We all have the beautiful community to thank for improving our skills, especially miss Alma and miss Jacqueline taking their time to write out a plethora of advice, knowing they don't have or owe us it.

I see a lot of you Beautylishers progress in your skills and I figured.. why not re-create an old look to see how different it would be today?

So I, challenge you all to go find a make up photo, as old as it gets, and re-create that look.
If you don't have a photo of an old hot look you used to do, you can describe what you are doing differently now as opposed to back then.

Re-create that look and post it down below, describe what you see different and what you now do different. Instead of commenting about how much you have improved thanks to Beautylish-show it!

Products used:

Skin prep;
Hourglass mineral veil ( under the eyes and on laugh lines )

In honor of Jackie and Alma, I decided to recreate a look from a time that means a lot to me. This was a really important day, but when I look back, I think my makeup needs work. It's all one color, the same dark purple, applied all over my lid, with a really blunt outline. At the time, I thought it was totally awesome (I still kind of do, but even I can admit when things could be improved). So today, I wanted to redo the look with advice taken from Jackie and Alma since I joined BL. Alma gave me some very helpful advice about blending, and how to effectively make the transition. She really talked to me about how it's an important skill, and how to effectively do it without blending out the edges. I love the idea of blunt edges, with smooth graduation of color inside. So that's what I tried to do today.

I used the same pencil I used for the original look, the UD 24/7 Shadow Pencil in Delinquent, as a base. Around the outer corner I used Nars Eye Paint in Tatar, and in the inner corners I used Buxom Stay There shadow in Schnauzer.

For Jackie, I did my brows. She explained to me how to keep them natural so I don't look weird to myself. I used her recommendation, the Diorshow Precision Brow Styler, to do my brows for this look.

I am so infinitely grateful for Alma and Jackie, both of whom I know I can ask any question that springs to mind. This look is for them, and for all of you that have also given me advice and encouragement throughout my time here (and hopefully they, or any of the rest of you, can let me know if it still needs improvement. I will always appreciate the advice!)

You both look really great. Hannah, I love the defined outline look. Really cool. And Kitty, although I do not have anything to contribute myself today (going to the water park, no makeup day) this is a really genius thread.

Thank you girls for your kind words ❤
We all know the hassle of eyebrows!

You don't have to post today, Lauren.. I just wanted to have a nice thank you thread that new members can look at as well to understand the impact of the advice everyone has given, especially both Alma's and Jacqueline's in depth explanations.

I actually did this 2 months ago but I never posted it! I'm only 16 in the first picture :)
If I was redoing it again I'd make the skin better and do my eyebrows, I was only really focusing on the eyes. A big difference I've noticed is what colours I use, the placement and the blending. I always used greys, blacks and white when doing gradient eyes then and now I use well anything. I never did winged eyeliner, and I never really took the colours down onto my lower lashline.
Sometimes I wish I could follow my 16 year old self around and see what she was like, but I'd probably hate her haha

Thank you Alejandra, I can't wait to see yours Sandra.
Feel free to give it a try Kayla, Welcome to Beautylish.

Thank you Miss Jacqueline! Without you and alma's advice we would be going off of YouTube and it's crazy results.

Caitriona, You look absolutely different! I agree with you on colors and placement, I felt like I bought up my transition shade so much.
I can't say anything about my 16 year old self, though. She was too damn lazy to really ever do anything and probably spent her day sleeping away.

On the contrary, Jackie, you absolutely deserve all of our thanks! Without you, I wouldn't understand 90% of the things I do now. I think that goes for all of BL, without the advice of you and Alma, I'd be a confused little youtube-bot. So thank you for that :)

^ Totally agree with Kitty and Hannah, we'd all be still living off youtube advice if not for ye.
Aw thanks Kitty :) You have definitely improved too but it still looked good imo in the before :) Yeah I think the transition shade is what makes all the difference and I definitely never used one before, it was a three eyeshadow system haha.
