When should you throw out your mascara? when does it go bad? does it start to stink when it goes bad?

You need to toss mascara after three months of use. If it has an rancid odor that means it has turned bad.

You should keep mascara no more than 3 or 4 months. It doesn't nessecarily "go bad" but it builds up bacteria that can give you eye infections.

I agree with shelly. Never use a mascara for more than 3 months it can give you an eye infection

Since I use drugstore mascara, which is cheap, I don't use it for more than 2months or I try.

I go off the smell a lot of the time. I think it also depends on how much you use it. I think 3 months is a safe zone :)

Mascara doesn't usually go bad. Most of the people would tell you about 3 months. But I use it as long as I can. Because you know mascara does dry up eventually. I am not sure about eye infection since you don't share it with anyone else. Also, when you use mascara it's not like you're going to leave it open.
