You can use tape for cute designs! just cut regular tape how you like it after you paint your nails (one color) and they are dry put tape on it how ever you want it and paint over it with a different color and there you go!

Use a concealer brush to clean the skin around the nail. I have an insta account with lots of nailspiration if you want to check it out @nail_designs_and_art_.

After do nail art for a year, I can safely say it is easier than it looks. Firstly, I would practice painting your nails without making a mess all over your skin. Easy designs to start with would be dots. If you don't have dotting tools, use bobby pins or the end of brushes. Another easy design would be the tape method, paint your nails, then place strips of tape on your nail, then paint over with another color and quickly peel off the tape. You can look up methods for this on the internet. Also, there are polishes that will make your nails look awesome without doing anything. Such as holographic polishes, confetti polishes and duochrome polishes. I honestly suggest just painting your nails without doing designs until you get use to painting your nails. But if you already have that down then work with dots or something like that until you can do more advanced stuff. Oh I also don't suggest doing a water marble design as a beginner. It is actually quite difficult to master and takes a lot of practice.
