I didn't know what topic to put this under. But I got my nose pierced a little over a week ago and now I have this bump, did anybody else get a bump after? I have a hoop. I don't know if that effects it or anything..

Might be rub some rubbing alcohol on it.

Have you been cleaning it with salt water? Don't put alcohol or any of the ear piercing sprays on it, it will only make it worse. Sounds like you have a small infection. Clean it with warm salt water regularly and try to not touch it otherwise.

That's common. I never got the bump on either of my nose piercings but just continue cleaning it regularly and apply tea tree oil. it should go away on it's own

And DO NOT use alcohol never ever

Sea salted water (not sea water) is the only thing you can keep doing. I had mine pierced about 3-4 weeks ago and it didn't develop a bump. I've been cleaning it regularly and it's a stud. Alcohol and peroxide are not good because they're too harsh and kill too many bacteria, even the good ones that can help you.

Is the bump red &/or painful?
Aug 11, 2014
Arielle S.
It's just a little red and it doesn't hurt at all.

And yes I've been cleaning it with salt water 2-3 times a day.

I thought you weren't supposed to start with a hoop?
Aug 11, 2014
Arielle S.
I didn't want the stud at all.

The bump is completely, 100% normal. My piercer actually told me once that bumps in cartilage piercings are so common that not getting a bump is actually uncommon! Lol just like everyone else said, clean it with salt water and NEVER use anything like alcohol, peroxide, etc. Only salt water.

Thank you guys!

Yeah that could be why too, because you started out with a ring. Usually piercers won't let you, it makes the piercing heal wrong apposed to one that was pierced and healed with a stud.

Oh wow didn't even realize you start off with a hoop, yeah you're not supposed to.

I can't have the stud even though I didn't want it. They don't fit in my nose correctly or safely. My nose got damaged in a car accident and didn't heal correctly.

Well in that case just keep cleaning :) I always used a saline solution for all my piercings and I've found it's the best thing to clean it with, like the other girls mentioned, try to be careful with it, I remember getting my piercings caught on towels and things when I first got it so I can only imagine how painful it could be if you were do bump it, etc.while it's healing with a ring so just be careful :)

I got one a while back and all you have to do is get warm water and put salt or antibacterial soap in it and mix it and submerge your nose ion it and leave it for a while. Mine was gone the next day.
