Get layers or get it thinned at the salon?

You shouldn't want to get your hair then. You can do a whole lot more with thick hair

Keratin smoothing treatment, done by a professional. Costly but life changing.

I have super thick hair and tons of it. Blow drying takes me almost 2 1/2 hours to get it fully dry even when thinned. (My sisters take 45 min, my moms an hour and there's aren't much shorter than mine) I get my middle layers thinned. I leave one layer at the bottom and one layer on top to keep flyaways at bay. I'd love to have thin hair. It's much easier to work with and you can do so much more in less time and usually a lot more styles (fully curling my hair takes at least 1 1/2 hours, if I'm being quick about it) so I always get mine thinned. It doesn't make a huge difference, but it cuts out probably 10-15 minutes of my blowdrying time. It's definitely worth it. But don't get your top layer thinned, as it can make it look as though you've got a lot of flyaways.

It's worth it Jane :) and my hairdresser is a good friend but I just tell her to thin those middle layers as much as she feels will help. It's really helped over time, I started this probably 2-3 years ago, and since then my hair has gotten much longer but it's gotten thinner. Even in photos I notice my hair was so poofy and big on days where I didn't do anything with it lol. Now it's manageable :)

Another thing is undercuts and sidecuts. But if you put your hair up a lot it can look a little unprofessional. But I got my sidecut cause I like the style, but I'm getting my other side done because it makes my hair so much more manageable.

Its not hard to work with if you know what you're doing. I have thick hair and I can do more with it then get it any of that stuff. That's why so many people love thick hair. :D.

Remember there's variations of thickness. My hair breaks elastics without twisting it (I use them just by pulling my hair through, If I try to wrap it again it just breaks) it also has the thickest braid and when it's not thinned if I try to do anything with it that doesn't leave it just down (ponytail, braids, etc) it weighs it down, pulls and hurts way to much to leave it like that. But you're lucky your hair isn't that thick lol. People with thick hair always go "holy shit" when they try to do my hair or even just see it in a ponytail. So you're very lucky haha.
