For the second time my armpit is starting to swell and I don't think its from shaving.. I havent shaved yet and the first time it happened I couldnt shave till the swelling went away since it was so sensitive. has this happened to anyone else?

Maybe it's your deodorant.

My friend has had it twice and had to have surgery on one armpit and antibiotics the second time around but apparently it is very common as it can be due to clogged pores etc.but I'd recommend seeing a doctor.

I have the exact same thing, in your armpits are you getting tiny red bumps and its sort of a like sweating?

I would switch deodorants/anti perspirants and don't use them at night when you sleep to give them a break.

It could be a cyst under the armpit that needs surgical removal. I have had a couple in my younger years. Mine formed from shaving (bad idea)!! I don't mean to scare you but depending on your age, I would get your breasts checked. The lymph nodes swell when you have breast cancer in the lymph nodes. My fiancé's mother had breast cancer in the lymph node area under her armpit. Overall I am no doctor, I am just advising you on my personal encounters of that area. You are best to go see a doctor.

I had the same issue, as Lorna said, it was a cyst that needed to be surgically removed and you will be out on antibiotics. Definitely go to doctors as soon as possible because if it as a bacterial cyst, you could potentially lose your arm.

Just a note that you may have a bacterial infection that is also causing your lymph node to swell and hurt. Most times lymph swelling caused by cancer will not be painful.

The same thing happened to my mom and it was just a cyst caused by all the chemicals in most deodorants... She fixed it by switching to more natural deodorants but not everyone can do that but she doesn't have a problem with b.o so she can get away with the natural ones. Most deodorants like Degree, Secret, Dove, etc. all really irritated my skin and made me actually sweat more (its almost like its something in it to make it worse...) anyways I switched to Lady Speed Stick and I don't know I figured it would be like all the rest but it actually helped me a lot and I sweat less than I ever have with any other brand. Anyways I wouldn't be too worried about it because like Nicole mentioned, it most likely wouldn't hurt if it was cancerous but I would still check with your dr asap about this.

Deffiantly see a doctor. I Would also recemend switching to a more natural deoderant without aluminum in it. Aluminum is linked to some illnesses.

I've had this problem before and I went to my doctors that said it's a blocked gland and it can take 2-4 weeks to sort itself :)

@alex did your dr prescribe you any antibiotics or did you just have to wait for it to go away on its own?

Hey sorry, my doctor told me to come back if it hadn't gone down but it did, it's happened a few times now but goes away on it's own, but always good to check with a doctor

Possibly an ingrown hair. You have a lymph node there too so be very careful.
