I always find that my hair is slowly getting wavy in the middle of the day after I had straightened it that morning. I have thin hair btw. Also, if you are a dancer you would understand. I go to an art school so I have to dance in the middle of the day and after I take my hair out of a bun it always gets wavy and looks like... well, bun head. Are there any ways I can get it to stay how I styled it (curly, straight..) when putting it in a bun?

I would like to know this too. I have to straighten my hair every day because it won't last.

Thats true thank you. Its just I always see other people take their hair out and it is still straight or how ever they styled it. Maybe its just because it is thin and easily molds to a shape.

I have thin hair as well and I use to have this problem when is put my hair in a bun for the dance portion of musical practice XD
For me; not even a lot of hairspray worked. The hair just easily changes shape and putting it into a bun is going to do that.
Maybe a looser bun will help? I know some girls I danced with did a very loose bun with some bobby pins and it would come out in the way they styles it.

How long is your hair in a bun? I haven't really had too much of an issue with that because all my dance classes are after school but personally for me if I need my hair to look ok after a class I'll curl it and then when I take it out of the bun it's still curly so that could be another option

Have you ever used spin pins? I just twist my hair into a bun and put two of those pins in my hair. They are way less crimping than a hair tie and feel really secure. That's what I do when I go to yoga and then I take it down and it's still good.

I use hairspray and it keeps my hair straight all day.

Humidity usually kills the straightness to my hair so any anti-humidity hair products work best for me.

I don't think you can keep it straight after putting it in a bun. I'm assuming you're dancing pretty hard and sweating and that's going to undo any hair styling you've done. At least straightening. Curly though you might be able to make work. Like Diana said you're going to need an anti-humidity hair product. Or you could try misting down your hair with some water if that's not working to reshape the curls by hand after dance, if you have time.
But the bun is a killer, especially because I'm assuming they want a clean, sleek, tight dancer's bun.
