Every time I go outside or sit next to a window my right eye starts watering at the outer corner, causing my makeup to smudge awfully. I don't know why my eye does this, as my left eye doesn't. It's been doing this for 2-3 months now. Any ideas why? How do I stop it? Should I see a doctor?

AHHHH this happens to me too! It's just my left eye though lol. So far I've assumed it was the sun bothering me? And it was just sooo bright out my eyes watered but that never explained why just one would! The left would be like POURING tears hahahah the other day I was out shopping with my friend and my eye was doing its usual nonsense and she thought I was crying in the store lmao. I'm excited to see the replies on this I hope someone knows what it is c:

I'm glad I'm not alone!
Tori, my eye doesn't stop streaming though, surely it would stop if I was just getting used to the light? My eyes are dark green. I don't know if they're more sensitive or anything...

It could be some kind of allergy. I used to get allergies in my right eye so it could be something similar. You could try visiting an optometrist.

Maybe it's allergies, this happens to me a lot in summer or during season changes. also my eyes are sensitive to air so the cars ac makes it so much worse! What helps a lot is wearing my glasses/ sunglasses as it protects my eyes a little better and I try and make sure to take my allergy pill every night instead of mornings.

Sunglasses! Thats a good idea!

But none of this says why it would be only one eye?

@Kat there isn't really an obvious explanation for it. When I had eye allergies, it was all in my right eye and my left was unaffected. What goes on in one eye may not be the same for the other.

You may need to blink more, the eye might be sensitive and if it gets to a certain level of dryness it starts to over compensate by extra tears x

I'll look into these causes! A lot of them could be likely. Thank you :)

It happens to me when I am nice and warm inside my house and rush outside the door. I think it's just a reaction of the cold air to the eyes. Drops (visine) seem to help my eye stop watering.
