Lol that's what I'm saying Em! You can still look good by looking simple.

Ikr I'm with em - school is a place for you to learn... Who cares about how you look!? That's how I felt when I was at school anyway - even in middle school I never really dressed up for school. Now prom or a dance that's different..

I'm not saying look like death but jeez...Calm down. There are actual people who don't have clothes period , but these people would KILL and keep whatever you throw at 'em. But hey ,that's my personal opinion. Should calm down with the post though.

There's nothing wrong in making an effort in looking good even for school, being stylish doesn't make anyone better or worse, just like wearing jeans and a T doesn't make you better, or worse. It is bad if your head starts feeling up with fashion and kicking out actual knowledge. As long as it doesn't affect other aspects of your life, being stylish is only positive. So there, if other girls.manage to look good and excell at school you can't talk em down for "caring on the dress to impress" can you? Btw ending every sentence in "lol" is a sign of insecurity.

I work in a domestic violence shelter and this school year I have a lot of highschool aged girls under my watch. A vast majority of them came to us with just the clothes on their back with their mom's. For the past two weeks I've had to joy of watching them shop for clothes in our thift store and shop online with donated giftcards. To see their faces light up over trendy faces...freakin' priceless. I can't speak on the girls posting fashion questions on BL (what motivates them to be concerned about fashion in school) but for my girls its uplifting to wear something that makes them feel good despite escaping a pretty bad living situation. They aren't dressing for the boys or impressing other girls...its all about experiencing some sort of normalacy. In two weeks I go to graduate school for a dual program and I'm teaching a freshman undergrad class...my undergrad years I rarely dressed up. Best believe I'm going to make sure I look fly for the next 4 years.

Tbh any thread about "what should I wear?" Or "what makeup should I do today?" Or "give me inspiration" Irritates the crap out of me. We are not google and your blocking someone elses post that won't be answered. I don't mind the ones where people post photos of their outfits or makeup and ask what will go with them but for god's sake girls learn to use the search button because none of use have any idea what you like, what's available in your area to buy or what you already have in your wardrobe and frankly sometimes we don't really care. Rant over. :* peace.

In Australia we have uniforms. The uniforms are good in a way because then you don't have to worry about what your going to wear to school but the only problem is you can't express your personality and it gets really boring wearing the uniform all the time

I think it's because schools made kids feel like they have to fit in. once these girls get out of school and realize it's not what you wear, but how you wear it they will relax a bit. Honestly my favorite dress is made from a bed sheet... and I wear my bed sheet well when I go out! lol :-D

I have been somewhat MIA from this site for quite some time and I used to be addicted. It seems like there's more younger girls on here trying to find their style than before. I think more people just reply with pinterest pics. I think that would be the more appropriate site to look considering we don't know their style. closet, body shape etc. I am in college now and quite frankly I don't even really remember the fashionistas of my school (and I never changed school districts. these are people I went to school with since preschool) no one really remembers. One year I straightened my hair constantly and then the next I put it up most days and people wondered why I never put it down. They forgot I was crazy about getting up the extra hr to do it the previous year. I'm college now and no one dresses up. It's sweats all day every day and if someone has heels on we assume they have a job to go to afterwards. I understand that girls want to look good for themselves (call me crazy but I don't dress for boys it's for myself and I've been in a relationship for 3 years and just fine!) anyways I also think our society has made our women so self conscious that they feel the need to look their best all the time and now everyone is growing up way to fast which I feel will bring the "style" questions up much more. I just say who cares since no one remembers anyways and chances are you will never see most the people you went to school with again. p.s. sorry if that has some errors it won't let me scroll up and re-read whatever I just wrote! Lol.

I agree with Ciera.
I'm starting year 12 in September and it's my first year of non-uniform (UK schools have uniforms). I don't see why people are massively fussing over what they wear, you're there to learn, it's not a fashion parade.
If you were asking for a different reason, for example a party then it might be acceptable, but for school?
I don't think it matters what you wear for school, because at the end of the day you aren't going to get a grade or qualification in what you wear.

Well honestly I go to college and I have always liked to dress up most days for school and look really nice because it makes me feel attractive confident and good about myself..but I agree I do get tired of people who act like google or things like pinterest don't exist and constantly make posts asking for help like they have no idea what to do...like honestly just wear what YOU like and what YOU think looks good on you because these posts do get rather annoying.
