Alma: Yep, just moved here about a month ago. Wish I knew some people in the area!

Andrea: Of course I wouldn't mind! I've had many interviews myself and I have conducted several as well. My background is mostly retail and a little administrative, but I have experience in foodservice too. :)

If this actually stops people posting about school for the rest of the month then you are a miracle worker. If not, I will spam them with the link to here lol

I would love one about interview appropriate dress! I always feel a bit like I'm too conservative with my suggestions on those threads but now you've said it Emily I don't feel like that as much. Hate seeing how many "wear dark jeans it's just xyz" posts. It's an interview dress professionally!

Caitriona: Haha please do!

Becky: I hate seeing those suggestions! Sure, some people have gotten lucky and interviewed with a manager that didn't care they were wearing jeans and were offered a job. That is the exception, not the rule. Do you really want to risk it? If you can't be bothered to actually dress appropriately for the interview, most managers are going to think you can't be bothered to do the job. Not a great impression.

Being too conservative is better than being too casual. I'd rather be seen as old-fashioned than lazy and disrespectful.

I agree with the advice you gave, but I wouldn't call it old-fashioned. To me when you apply these rules to the interview its so that nothing stands out or is eye catching because you want all the focus to be on your answers and personality not the pretty rings you have or your boobs lol.

I actually love this post, emily!! its gotten very repetitive and I completely agree with caitriona haha if only there was some way to keep bringing this back every summer and keeping it at the top of the threads :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Lol seriously I didn't even want to log in to BL because I got a little irritated everytime I saw the same question multiplied by 50x in the talk section

I'm glad you made this post! I'm also really tired of seeing the same questions being asked and having the same responses given back! 💆

Say I'm wearing a skirt to an interview. Do I need pantyhose? And what color of in wearing a black skirt? I'm in hot Phoenix.

Generally pantyhose are appropriate, particularly in a more conservative setting (office versus retail). Nude/sheer are fine. I find that the ultra sheer tend to be a lot cooler while still giving the smooth look.
