Take small strands as you keep going down the head and ull get the fishtail look.

Practicee. take small strands and try to keep them the same size for the entire braid. first practice a normal french braid and then a fishtail braid and then do the french-fishtail. tbh I can't do the french braid I find it super hard -.- but my fishtail is ok I guess so yeah practice.
