Use really cold water and don't wash it for as long as you can, especially if you just got it done. I have had green hair before and I now have pink/purple hair and it really helps to buy some dry shampoo and use that instead of washing it so much. I wash my hair about once every three days at the least.

All of that above! And when you notice it starting to fade, separate your hair so only the purple is down and the rest is clipped up, and mix a bit of purple veggie dye (manic panic, directions, special effects, punky colors) with your conditioner and let it sit for about 5-15 minutes than rinse off. It'll refresh your color quickly and let you control the intensity each time. The more color vs conditioner you put in the brighter it'll be, along with the longer you leave it the more intense. :)
