I've read online that if you put coconut oil in your hair before bleaching it helps it to be less damaged, has anyone tried this? How did it work for you?

I did it, I've only bleached my hair once and when I did I did with the oconut oil bleaching method. my hair baaarley got damaged , I'd assume it would of been WAY worse with out. and I feel like it makes it easy to apply the bleach evenly.

I think I'm going to try it then! I'm only doubting it because bleach is supposed to be used on dry hair, but everyone seems to have good experiences with it.

Yes it works. its also good to bleach your hair wen its dirty/you havent washed it a couple days bc your hair produces oils tht protect it frm the damages of bleach. same concept with the coconut oil.

Yeah I've bleached my hair once normally (though I hadn't washed it in awhile) and it was hardly damaged, might as well try to prevent it more though.

Yea just put it in, best over night and put a shower cap thn bleach it the next morning. And afterward, if you have any left, you can use it for hair masks.

I've done it with having coconut oil in and without, there's really no difference on the damage. It just makes the bleach slower and makes you keep it on longer. I had coconut oil on when I got my roots done and we had to keep the bleach on 25 minutes longer and I got burns on my scalp from the bleach. Without coconut oil I don't get burns from it being on a long time and my hair isn't any noticeably healthier. Bleach isn't that damaging when done right (depending on your hair too) and it really didn't make a difference on my hair. I'd just do coconut oil afterwards.

Hmm, I think I'll try it anyway since a lot of people said it did great! shouldn't hurt even if it doesn't change anything.
