So everytime I put on eyeliner on my eyelid (liquid liner, pencil liner) it leaves a big black line right above my crease by the end of the day! Is there anyway I can prevent this from happening?

I get this too! I have hooded eyes and bought so many eyeliners and primers to help. I had it the worst this summer and I think it's because of the heat...I used stila waterproof liners that never worked but I loved how they went on. I then randomly bought physicians formula shimmer strips eyeliner and I never got the mark nearly as bad. not sure what it is but it helped me!!

What liner are using when you have this problem??
Aug 6, 2014
Alexis C.
I use drugstore liners, usually maybelline precise liquid liner or some Covergirl pencil liner.

Do you have any primers that you recommend?

Setting the liner with a black eyeshadow or a translucent powder helps :) and for a primer you could just use a long lasting concealer that doesn't crease. I use the MAC prolongwear as a primer and it works just as good as anything else I've tried :)

I love Lorac primer and the UD primers. I suggest buying a new higher end liner. The UD 24/7 glide on liners will not give you this problem. Seriously you have like ten seconds after application before it becomes practically smudgeproof!:))) I loveeeee them!!:)

Hi Alexis,I bought that maybelline precise liner last week just to give a drugstore liner a try and it was a let down,I like the form but not the performance.I have hooded eyes and I use Inglot AMC gel and Sephora collection cream liner with out any bleeding problems at all it's all concrete staying power.I use primers like Too faced shadow Insurance and just recently I have fallen in Love with Benefits Base/Primer Stay Don't Stray..
Here is the details from Benefit for Stay Don't Stray
Details-
This dual-action power primer works 360 degrees around the eyes to make concealers AND eye shadows STAY PUT. Concealers don't crease, eye shadows stay vibrant & true. Contains sodium hyaluronate known to hydrate and vitamins C.
:) This product is outstanding

Ulta, Sephora, etc... They are quite affordable actually. I believe they are 20 dollars. But the formula is so creamy and smooth and durable. The product itself lasts a long time before having to buy another!!:))))

I have like $3 liners that work really well. It seems it's the application, not the liner that's the problem

It's that Liner Lauren I've tried it and just was not up to par.I have a few $3 liners as well and it would perform better then that Maybelline one.

I'm going to be totally honest... I'm a beginner at makeup and I have never used a primer on my eyes before! How would I apply it?
Aug 6, 2014
Alma M.
You apply it on your lid but be light handed with it don't put on to much and I add it to the bottom lash line as well.

Use primer and you can pat on some matte black eyeshadow over the eyeliner with an angled brush which helps it stay on.
