I would just change the shirt or the bottoms, they would both look great with something else. I think white shorts or jeans would look cute with the shirt and belt. And for the skirt, I'd go with a solid color tee or crop top.

It doesn't work cause of the difference in fabrics. change the top into something more crisp like a white tank perhaps.
