No I don't think it's too dark because you have dark hair but if you want to look less harsh try brushing it out a bit more the soften the lines.

It's not shocking at all. Because there are so many brow products out and eyebrows seem to the "thing" right now, people tend to not lean towards pencil as much. If you do pencil and are comfortable doing so then right on!

I can hardly see your but from the little that I do see, they look good. Good job!
