A somewhat awkward topic, I just started my period and my mom told me nothing, haha. For the ladies who wear pads, wear do you hide these in your purse (If you're in school, then backpack)? I know it's a part of life but it feels awkward, are there any tips for getting more comfortable with it?
Thanks a tonn.

I wear tampons, but I keep them in a little change purse so they're not visible to the naked eye! :)

You could buy a pencil case or little makeup bag and keep them in there. I was the same when i was your age but you will get used to it. I cant really give any tips on getting comfortable with it because it took me years. I know i feel a lot better when using tampons because they just feel more hygenic but i wouldnt suggest using them straight away as it could be painful so you need to prepare your self properly. All us girls are the same so try not to feel awkward. Xx

they do special teen pads now that arent as wide. i use them at night (even though im 26) coz they are so much more comfortable. the standard ones are quite wide and tend not to sit properly

Makeup bag! Start fixing you makeup with your bag on a regular basis. Then when it's really time, nobody will think anything of it! :)

Do you carry a purse ? If so no one should be going I. It so it shouldn't be a matter of hiding items . If you don't and you use a back pack , just put it in the bottom with books on top. Once you get older and more accustomed you won't feel awkward or the need to hide these products . Or at least I don't and I've had mine for about 7 years ? I'm a senior I high school so you'll get used to it !

It took me years to get use to it but you'll eventually get to the point where its just natural and you'll feel my comfortable about it.

I don't know about the US but in the UK we have a brand that have really discrete packaging, they just look like a fancy box with no writing on. im sure you'd get something similar, just for the house, like so you feel comfortable having them in the house around your dad or if you have brothers. I know my brother was nosey when I was younger and I hated it! I wear tampons personally and have a little change purse I keep things like concealer lip gloss paracetamol etc on me all the time and stick them in there. my mum got a free tin with a pack of sanitary towels. its a little bigger than a credit card and flat. holds about two in so keep your eyes peeled for them too.

also as someone mentioned, websites are good for stuff too, as well as samples you might get little holders. from them too so check out a few of your popular brands. I remember we had some health advisor come to our school when I was twelve or thirteen and they gave away little holders too

I like to use colorful fabric change purses, some for lipglosses/phone, others for more personal items like condoms or an emergency pad. I Keep those coinpurses within my purse, but you could easily tuck yours into a back-pack. I believe in my Jansport backpacks there were some hidden pockets I used to stash pads in. I would just bring your purse/backpack to the bathroom with you to be discreet. It is uncomfortable at first, but you'll get used to it as you age. <3

I put mine in the small zipper part that's in most purses. I don't put it there to hide it but to keep it separate so when I pull my wallet out I don't pull those out too. Lol

it's really not a big deal. think of it that way. hide them in a pocket or in your shoe

I shove them anywhere in my bag. I'm not scared of my period/scared of others knowing about it. Pads and tampons are nothing awkward for me. They do get in my way though so I usually put them in the little compartment in my purse that has a zipper on the side. Keeps them away from my main stuff.

Just keep in mind that women that are physically female get periods. (Most of us) just do. It's a part of life and there's no reason you should feel awkward about it. I mean, no need to scream YO FOLKS I'M ON MY PERIOD PARTY TIME to your pre-algebra class or anything, but if a pad/tampon/cup shows in your bag, just shrug it off.

I remember we used to feel awkward about the almighty riiiiiiiiiip sound when you remove a towel from your underwear. We'd go to the loo in pairs & after you'd locked your cubicle door, a friend would wash their hands & turn on the dryer to hide all the rustling & ripping :-D You will get more comfortable with it, but that might help until you do. I now use a Mooncup - probably something for when you're *totally* comfortable - & it's wonderful.
In uni, we were sat at the back of the lecture hall, sloped seating. My friends bag tipped & all her tampons went merrily bouncing down the rows & to the lecture floor! She kept her cool amazingly well!

I keep tampons in a little purse type thing and occ fold a liner up and put it in there too. You'll get used to it, in fact, in no time at all you'll feel like it's been happening years and be totally bored by the whole thing!
