I don't know if it's just me, but I can't get myself to like pearly and frosty lipsticks and lipglosses (and nail polishes, for that matter!)
I feel that they look dated and "old-lady"-ish.
Does anybody agree with me?
I have lots of these lipsticks laying around my house (my mom...huge fan of those a while ago!), and I was wondering if there was a way to wear them without looking like an 80s makeup commercial :/
Do you have any idea of why they look so dated? They look beautiful in the tube and swatched on the skin, but on the lips, it's a nightmare!
I guess Katy Perry can pull it off...!

I meant to write "pearly" in the title. Oops!

I agree. Frosty lipsticks make my lips look chapped. Idk to me they look either for little girls or like you said old lady ish

Maybe you can do an ombre or doll lip with it, it would look really cute.

And I use some of my lipsticks as blushes as well.

Thank you everybody! I was hoping to find contrasting opinions. I found that maybe if the frost is gold I tend to like it a lot more than if it's white or silver.
I'll try using them for other purposes and retro looks but I think I can try them out at home the way you suggested it, Jackie. I feel so bad abandoning almost unused products!

Agree with you on them looking old laddish haha but layer them and it may work you never know
I bought the too faced shimmering lipstick trio that came out for the holiday collection, and they are so weird like the pink one seriously looks like that pic lol
But I have found that layering it makes it so much better. I usually put it on top of my Marc Jacobs in headliner (matte color) if I don't want like a super bold lip and it actually makes it look so pretty and doesn't look frosted at all

I agree! I love the idea of frosted finishes, but once applied it always reminds me of the play makeup you get as a kid (or my mothers makeup lol).

I second using them as blush. Sometimes, I dab just a bit in the very center of my lips over another (non frosted) color. I like them in summer when I'm rocking a bronze eye and my skin has a little color to it...even so, I don't wear them often.
