I really want to use something more natural in my hair. It used to be super thick and as I grew up its gotten thinner and thinner. I lose a lot of hair when I run my fingers through it. So I'm thinking of using something gentle but efficient as my hair gets oily and limp quickly. Have any of you made a successful batch or have any ideas/pointers on coming up with one?

Before even lookin at shampoo, you really should figure out why you're losing hair
It's normal to lose some hair when you run your fingers through it but if it's too much then go to the doctor
And it's not smart to play chemist with shampoos when you have no knowledge of pH levels especially with your own
You can end up losing more hair in the process

Yep I heard of that, that the most popular ingredients for homemade shampoos are very alkaline and it's necessary to balance the pH level with something acidic. I lose maybe 5 hairs when I'm trying to comb it out with a wide tooth comb. Not sure if that's normal or not.
My main thing is just that I don't want to use products every day in my hair with ingredients I can't pronounce.

5 hairs isn't bad I have lost more than that
And "unpronounceable" ingredients are not all bad

Do you brush your hair out while it's wet? I found that's why I was losing so much hair lol

I agree with Ari, just because you can't pronounce them doesn't mean they're bad... I mean alcohol is easy to pronounce & is found in a lot of products& isn't all that good for you. I really like the aveeno pure renewal shampoo & conditioner
If you feel that it worsens or something you should ask a dr just to be safe

Don't sleep with your hair up or in a braid it pulls your hair out. Have you heard of the no shampoo movement? If not that then I love Clear Scalp and Hair.

If you're losing more hair, your hair is getting limp, and your hair is thinning, you need to see a doctor. Many things can cause these changes, from smoke vitamin deficiency to more serious issues like thyroid problems and chronic illnesses. Rule out any underlying health issues before throwing more shampoos and things at your head.
