Synthetic vs real, What kind of hair is the best for an eyeshadow brush?
Hello 😁 I have a question about the hairs that make up a good eyeshadow brush. I've been using art brushes ( like from the art supply store ) for my makeup for years, I find that synthetic brushes work great with gel eyeliners but I'm clueless when it comes to powders like eyeshadow and bronzer. would a real hair brush work better than a synthetic hair one with powders? Thanks so much for your help 😄😊😘😘😘

Btw I buy art brushes because they're waaaaaay cheaper than makeup brushes and they like come in every shape and size available at good art stores

I feel like natural brushes work better with powder products. they have more texture than synthetic ones to which they can pick up more powder.also natural hair brushes more more freely rather than synthetic brushes do giving it.a more natural blend

Check out Ecotools, they have awesome natural brush sets for suuuuper cheap and they're made out of recycled materials :) I got my starter set for about $20 AUD for a blush, foundation, eyeshadow, angled eyeliner,

Just to add to what Sandra said, I was taught in makeup school that real hair (brown) brushes are meant for powder and synthetic are meant for creams and liquids. My synthetics don't pick up or deposit powder very well.

From a hygiene-only standpoint, synthetic brushes tend to harbor fewer bacteria and are easier to clean. Your eyes are some of the germiest areas of your face, so if you're concerned about that sort of thing, I'd recommend synthetic.

My natural hair brushes make it so much easier to pick up powder products and they make blending a breeze. MAC is reasonably priced though I'm a sucker for Hakuhodo Japanese brushes (but those are a splurge for me). Synthetic is good for cream shadow and I prefer them for gel liner or brows because they tend to be stiffer and better for precision.

What a great run down! I'm saving all of that info. How did you learn all that?
