So I really need help! I dyed my hair black about a month ago and I want to go lighter now maybe a light ombré or a light brown all over but I really don't know what to do. Idk if I should use a color stripper if so which one and where can I get it? (I've done my hair many times including bleached) should I bleach it if so which box should I get and where? I'll post pics of what I'm looking for and my current hair color so y'all can help me out ladies! 😁 I would go to a salon but I'm just so scared they won't know what I want and I'll have to pay a lot of money for something I don't like.

What I'm looking to do my hair is about the same length maybe a tiny bit shorter than hers.

Also even this but I know it will be a little harder since she has a lighter brown on top but it's so beautiful

But how can I achieve that look should I just bleach the bottom?

I guess bleach it to almost top of your hair and dye it from there

I would suggest getting highlights for both looks, as they are far less danaging than bleaching all of your hair. go to a professional and show them the pics. good luck :)

Well I wouldn't want to bleach my whole hair lol just like the way Kylie has it In the first pic with only the bottom bleached

Why do so many girls say they don't want to go to a salon because they are afraid that the PROFESSIONAL won't know what they want. as long as you have pictures, I'm pretty sure you will get what you want. and if it's not possible, they will tell you. it's better then doing it your self and running the risk of having it look horrible. with a picture as simple as kylie Jenner ombre I'm sure a stylist would know what to do. make an appointment for a counseltation, read reviews on line and ask people where they get their hair done at.

Kelly is right. I've seen a lot more "Help hair disaster" type threads that have been caused by somebody trying to do their own color than I can remember. However I've seen literally ONE saying someone had gone to a salon and was unhappy with their results. Of course it can happen but as long as you communicate with your stylist chances ate you'll be happy with your new look:)

I would bleach it and then use a carmel color and die where you bleached I would go to sallys and they will tell you what to get at least my sallys does... I think you will be fine since you have bleached before and I do understand salons are super expensive and you might not get it excatly what you want and when you do it yourself you can only blame urself which is a lot easier I'm the same way lol.

I would personally wait longer since you've dyed it a month ago. I did the same thing & I regret it! I would definitely go to a professional and wait at least 3 months and also a tip that helped me from a professional wash your hair with head&shoulders for about 4 weeks + before getting the colour or bleach done as it strips out the current colour you have now and it makes it easier to go blonde :)

Just bleach wash with 30 vol where you want the ombre so you don't do too too much damage to the rest. Then you can tone the ends to your desired color.

We did that on my Hispanic friend with VERY dark, thick hair and the bleach was made her ombre a brassy blonde and I just toned it.

You're going to have to remove as much of the black as you can before you even think about bleaching. Bleach + black dye = green fried hair. Use harsh shampoos, dish soap, maybe a color stripper (not sure if they are effective on black, it is very difficult to remove). Fade it as much as you possibly can and use conditioning masks to prepare your hair before you bleach. Otherwise you risk having brittle hair that won't hold color.

Using harsh shampoos and what not will do nothing but dry the hell out of your hair and do more damage. head and shoulders is terrible to use as well there is no hope when fading permanent black hair dye. it is possible to bleach out black dye, just not very easily. which is why I recomended a salon. it may not bleach up as light as you like but it certainly won't come out green. when used in a controlled setting, bleach is not damaging. just keep your hair healthy.

I would grow out the dye first constantly dying your hair ruins it and slows growth.

Coloring your hair does not ruin your hair or slow growth. over processing will ruin it. but not slow growth.

My friend dyed her hair black and decided she wanted to have white hair instead. She used powder lightener with 40vol developer, after using a black box dye. Her hair turned a nasty shade of forest green, and was extremely damaged.

Black is difficult to remove because it saturates the hair so well. Bleach has a very hard time lifting dyed black hair, regardless of whether it is being done in a salon or at home. Fading it out as much as possible and using conditioning treatments to ward off excessive damage is going to be less problematic (and less expensive) than multiple bleaching sessions at a salon. If she can remove even some of the dye, it will be easier.

Using Head and Shoulders will strip the color and leave hair dry. That's why it is critical to add moisture back with masks and conditioners.
