I highly recommend you consulting your doctor before trying something new such as Biotin due to plenty of it already being in the food you eat. There are no magic tricks or pills that speed up hair growth, if your doctor says it's okay for you to take it, all it'll do is make your hair stronger. Too much biotin can cause negative affects externally as well as internally.

If you want healthier hair I would say take a hair skin and nails vitamins, it made a huge difference in my nails and the new growth of my hair, it obviously didn't make it grow faster since that's all up to genetics but it made it look healthier.

I've tried it a few years ago and I didn't see any difference. My hair actually grows fast so I felt that I really don't need to continue to take Biotin. If you take care of your hair properly, your hair will grow. How fast it will grow just depends on genetics.

I don't recommend it
It would be better if you just take multivitamin and iron supplements which do not causes damage maybe one every other day
also apply warm oils to your hair and massage a bit into your scalp
regularly use a moisturising hair mask at the end of your hair
get rid of spilt ends but it doesn't mean you have to keep on getting a trim only when various split ends appear
minimise heat but if you need it then your hair care will cover you
My hair was to my belly button but had too many split end so I cut it to just under my shoulders
I am in the process of growing it out now and I am seeing results. obviously it's not going to be instant but if you work on it you'll grow your hair out
