I'm dyeing my hair black next week, and I know nothing about box dyes as I usually dye my hair neon colours. I'm looking for a pitch black, permanent dye that hardly fades, and will cover my greenish-blonde and pink hair nicely. What do you guys recommend?

I've dyed my hair black over blonde once and within two weeks it faded to a muddy brownish grey color, it was nasty. A colorist friend if my mom suggested gradually going darker, starting with a light brown then a few week a dark brown then the black a few weeks later, my favorite box dyes are loreal and garnier.

My hair isn't that blonde, it's just bits and pieces where the blue faded significantly. I have a friend that had the exact same hair color I currently do, and she went over it with pitch black, then brown a few weeks later and it turned out fine :) thank you for your suggestion! I'll check them out (:

Oh okay :) good luck with your hair coloring journey, my hair was kind of a sunny blonde not quite platinum, so there wasn't much pigmentation for the black to hold onto.

Just keep in mind that no ones hair is the same. What happened to your friend, might not happen with your hair. It is smart to do a medium color in between when going light to darker because it acts as a filler and keeps your color richer longer.
