I get acrylics. To me gel looks weird and I heard it can burn or hurt alot. I never had anything but acrylics. Ive had mine for a year and a half just about. I dont have any problems with them falling off or anything.

Acrylic will destroy your nail underneath. Gel is just a special type of nail polish that dries fast under uv lights. Gel will not hurt or burn you (unless you touch the hot lightbulb) Id suggest staying away from acrylics.

Is it shellac that burns? When i was at the salon the girl next to me was getting something not acrylic and the lady told her it might burn or hurt.

Shellac is gel. It's what I always get. If they said that then they are doing it wrong and I'd be afraid of that salon.

I've had acrylic nails now for about 3 years and I can honestly say don't do it girls the worse decision I will never get my real nails back I would use Sheilax it's so good

Rebecca I had the same problem. It took awhile, about a year, but I finally got my nails back to normal. Now when my nails are long and shellaced I always get asked if my nails are fake.

Gel nail polish is a lot healthier for your nails. It also lasts longer so I would go with that!

I've heard that gel is really protective for your nails & doesn't damage your nails like Acrylic does.
