I have samples of beautiful loose eye shadows. But, I am a novice when it comes to makeup application. I have no idea how to apply them on my lids without causing a huge mess.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

An eye shadow primer works well enough for me. But I was super into painting, so I have a stay brush hand! Lol. But a primer like Kat Von D high voltage eye primer will act like a magnet and keep the shadow in place. Also remember a little hours a long way. Too much on your brush will end in fall out. Hope this helped :)

Always prime. It keeps your eyeshadow from fading or creasing. Just start out by lightly sweeping it onto your lid, little by little, and blend it out evenly. Practice definitely doesn't hurt, but you will get the hang of iron no time at all!

The eyeshadow primer bit is obvious. I usually apply product to the brush, tap excess (usually on the edge of the jar so the bristles are on top of the main product... so excess will just fall back into the jar and I won't waste anything) and then apply onto lid/crease.

Maybe wet the brush a bit so it can come out more pigmented and won't be as messy!

I used to have use mine wet as well and the color payoff was inane lol. Also, try to just get the shadow on one side of the brush so there's not much fallout or product waste. And pat the color on instead of sweeping back and forth.

Thank you ladies. I always use primer. Sometimes the loose shadow falls off the brush while I'm patting it on my lid and have shadow all over my cheek. I didn't know if I could do to prevent that. Thank you all again for your advice :)

To prevent the falling shadow from setting in your skin just place loose white or translucent powder under your eyes then wipe away after you finish your eyes
