Hi I have extremely curly hair and I need some help with products. I hate shrinkage but love my curls being defined! I don't want to keep straightening my hair but sometimes I find it easier as I can't tame my curly hair!! 😫😫

I section my hair, the top part, each side and a back piece. Then section by section I do gel, mousse, more gel if needed then hairspray all over. I then dry with a diffuser and more hairspray. Takes lots of time as my hair goes most of the way down my back when wet. If I don't do it I have a full on afro XD.

Over this year I went from straightening daily to throwing away my straightener. Here's what I've got: shampoo only when oily. For me since quitting straightening this is never. Use conditioner liberally. You want one with lots of slip agents to aid in detangling. Load up, then comb hair with fingers or a wide-toothed comb or wet brush. Start at the ends and work up to avoid breakage, as hair is more delicate when wet. Rinse conditioner only part-way. Use a pashmina scarf or old t-shirt to scrunch dry. Once towel-dried, apply products. I use a leave-in conditioner and a gel, other popular options are oils and curl cremes. Apply liberally, and it's easier to work in sections. Run product down a chunk of hair, then use the "rake and shake" technique (google it, will be impossible to clearly explain in text) to distribute product evenly. Then flip head upside down, shake hair and scrunch to reset the curl pattern (all the finger combing and sectioning breaks up curls). Use duck clips for volume at roots while they dry. Use a diffuser and blow dryer or let air dry. Once dry, remove clips, flip upside down, shake and scrunch again to break up any product and leave hair soft. Also, only use lukewarm water on hair (cold is better, if you can stand it)

Oh, and pineapple it at night (again, Google it) to make it last more than one day. Spritz with curl refresher (or a bit of conditioner in water, or just water) to revive limpness.
