My skin in very oily near the end of the day but at the same time has dry patches. It makes me foundation look hideous. I use a beauty blender which seems to work alright sometimes. Sometimes is doesn't. Any other ways that would work well?

I have oily skin and I like applying foundation with a flat top stippling brush.

It sounds like you have a combination skin type (so do I) and it sounds like you either need to change your skin care routine or the particular product you're using :) But sense you asked for application techniques; it depends on the type of foundation, but for the most part I use a flat liquid foundation brush, its paddle shaped :)

Fingers to "warm up" the product, then use brush or beauty blender to blend out.

I noticed that the best way to apply a foundation often depends on the foundation itself. some foundations would work best with a brush, some with a sponge and some with fingers.
try each foundation you buy with different applicators to see what works best.
it can also change if you use a different moisturizer or primer

It's important to exfoliate a few times a week to get rid of those dry patches. I recommend a clarisonic even though they are expensive!
