For not having anything on hand that's awesome! I'd personally have the blood more randomized in placement, but since you didn't have any it makes sense why it looks the way it does.(:

I would darken the inside a bit more, around the edges. also blend it into the skin more. I would concentrate the majority of the blood on the inside of the "wound".

It's good for having no fx products! I'd put less blood above the gash, almost none, and have it more random and varied along the bottom to mimic the way blood would fall from gravity
