Bad Experience with MAC?

I've been wanting to buy something or check out the products at MAC because I've never owned a MAC product and I always hear good things about them. I also hear bad experiences about MAC. Apparently MAC employees are total snobs and they treat you like trash if you don't look like a certain type. Is this true? What has been your experience with MAC?

Well, it depends on where you're at and the employees at that specific place? Not every single MAC store will have snobs, and not every single one will have nice employees. Lol.. I personally have had bad experiences though, at the one I went to.

Don't base your thoughts on some peoples experiences though, you can't not give people a chance because of hearsay stuff you know? I'd say go in, and find out for yourself. Don't expect much, just go in and see :)

I've heard from one of my bosses MAC could be a little hoity-toity. I don't go there very often, but they aren't as friendly and interactive as the girls at benefit

I went there today and they weren't even busy and the employees saw me and didn't bother asking me if I needed help or introduce themselves and acted as though I didn't exist, but it might be different where you are.

I've ranted on beautylish about this topic before... Long story short, I've been ignored by mac employees multiple times, but last week I had a much better experience at the same location but with different employees. There's no way of knowing what attitude they will have until you physically go to a particular store and find out. Thank goodness for online shopping though, right?😉

The girls at the MAC counter have always been nice, but their skin products make both my daughter and I break out. It was just too smothering for our skin - it provides great coverage, but that's because it sits on top of your skin. Our skin couldn't breathe and it broke out. Although, I know some of her friends use Mac without any issues, so it just depends.

Personally I have had nothing but bad experiences at sephora but at MAC great they were so kind to me super helpful and matched me perfectly but its different everywhere just keep an open mind when you go in :D

I've never been to MAC "store," but I did go to a Kiosk kinda setup in Altamonte Springs, FL one time with my bf and his sister and the girl there was really nice and helpful. I was trying to find a lipstick that would look good and neutral on my lips without pulling a Kim Kardashian. She let me try on several different shades and finishes, and disinfected each one for me. I ended up walking away without making a purchase, and she was totally fine with it. I'm from TX and I am HUGE on hospitality from how I was raised and living in a small town. When I go to most places that sell high-end makeup I find that you get a mixture of the good and the bad from anyone. I luckily got greeted with the good, but I have experienced the bad too from other companies who get rave reviews. So in that I will say to just test the waters for yourself. If you greet them with a smile and positive attitude, and they reject your effort then that's their loss not yours. Generally a smile is contagious, so give it a go :)

I've never had a bad experience at MAC! :) They're always really sweet workers, and the ones I went to were really amazed that I am left-handed. Everyone is different, just because someone had a bad experience with a worker at MAC, it doesn't mean that everyone should get stereotypical about the rest! There are some very nice people working for MAC... you should see for yourself, you will not regret it. :D Goodluck!

I've only had one experience in a mac store, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. The girl that colour matched me was completely wrong and gave me a shade in a different undertone to what I am. I used the studio fix fluid once and gifted it to a friend who would get use out of it as mac makeup is expensive here lol. I don't think I'll be going back though, nothing in particular calls to me anymore. :)

Every place is different and it all depends on the situation of course. But I have been to at least five different Mac counters/stores and I've been treated like crap at all of them. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm a 16 year old girl, but I don't think that gives anyone the right to act condescending towards me. I've recently learnt when I go in with a full face of makeup, hair done and an expensive outfit they tend to treat me better. Though that really only reflects worse on them If they're that shallow.

My first MAC experiences were very awkward, because I'm a very shy person! MAC employees are there to sell MAC products so they would ignore me if I just walked in considering I was like 13 and just staring at eyeshadows lol, because they didn't want to waste time. Eventually I just started walking up to the employees themselves, so they would take me seriously. My Mac ladies are very nice and helpful to me now! But I still hear horror stories from my family and friends about our store. Oh well! I guess it's all about the employee specifically. :p.

Also I would like to say that I often get more ignored at Mac counters. Like brittany said, it's probably because I'm 16 lol!
