Ombre isn't as hard to do yourself as people say it is lol. I did mine freestyle and it came out perfect. Some dyes come with a weird liner thingy but I feel like it does nothing but mess everything up.

2 would look great. I had an undercut and would do the same thing to cover the shaved side. Got a bob to make it easier to grow out. As long as your hair is pretty thick I think it works really well. Make sure to pick up a tiny brush and watch lots of tutorials to do the ombre yourself!
