Ladies, I need your advice my hair has tons of blonde tones in it due to overly highlighting it! I'm sick of it but don't wanna go back to my hairdresser to get it fixed do to her poor work on it already. I just wants a dark redish brown all over single color... How should I go about doing this!? And is there any professional advice?!!!

I can't see your hair that well but since you have highlights it would be difficult to achieve even color. In my opinion you should try to tone your highlights so that they look more even and maybe you would be happier with the results, I would use the wella white lady toner with a 20 volume developer. If you really want to go darker you could try using a protein filler before you apply the color, if you want a reddish tone you could use colorful's #10 red red which would help get a more even color and then apply the desired color . I would recommend getting a shade or two lighter of the color you want since its always easier to go darker than lighter, just in case you weren't satisfied with the results. You would probably be better off going to another salon and getting a second opinion, they'll do it for free. It is very important to take into consideration the condition of your hair, to keep it healthy and if its not very healthy to bring it back to a more healthy state. If you've never used developer and don't know what the things I mentioned are I would really recommend going to a salon :)

Thanks for your input! I'm kinda thinking I should just go to a different salon! I don't wanna have a huge hair disaster more than it already it and cost me twice the money to fix it. :)

I d suggest using a neutral color filler, then roux porosity control corrector and conditioner, the color with Age Beautiful (all from Sally's). This really helped me get through a mess up from too many years if highlighting. Select a color 2 shades lighter than your goal (which I live, by the way), good luck!

Bleached hair is damaged an very porous. Color will soak up to two shades darker than the color you actually choose. With the amount of bleach in your hair( looks like hvy highlites) you need to either tone it or go to a salon for deposit only... Color over bleach means you could melt your hair... It may look hlthy because of product but the hair shaft is damaged. Trust me when I say go to a salon for color correction... Find someone who's hair you like ask where they go an ask for " color correction" you need different tones of color to achieve what your looking for an NO box color will get you there alone.... It's cheaper to color correct then live with the process of hair damage... Which you can cover an conceal but unless you cut it off its damaged..... Point blank... Google salons in your area that specialize in color correction.. It will cost but one large price tag is better than several to correct damage or end up in a pixie cut.. :)

The color you want is chocolate brown. That's several tones of red in a brown base... You will not get that in a box... It will turn "black" on your highlightes... Med Chocolate brown is my hair color an it took me 6 months of gradual lightening professionally an deposits of color without frying my hair.. Total cost... 300. But what are highlightes? 140? 160??? Two highlightes in cost cover your color correction.... :) hope it helps!!!

If you do chose to box color which I hope you truly don't, do not use permanent or anything above a 10 vol dev. You will eventually get what is called " hot roots" the color will fade an the root area will be lighter. That's if your color doesn't turn a very muddy color...

Yeah, i think you should just go to a different salon. They'll fix it for you, hopefully. Neveeer use box hair dye.

Hi Melissa H.,
Do you rinse between using the Neutral Protein Filler and the Roux Porosity Control Corrector and Conditioner and/or rinse between the Roux and applying the color?

I know these are old posts but just found them while doing an online search. Thank you.
