My only suggestion is to buy a cheap sponge (like a Sonia Kashuk sponge) to apply it, because you may not like the applicator it comes with. I sure didn't.
The picture attached (excuse my face lol) shows my acne prone, sensitive, oily skin a few hours into wearing it. I have a few breakouts and many scars on both sides of my face. Just to give you an idea on what it's going to cover.

It smooths out your complexion and makes you look rather natural without having to smother your face.

NYX for concealer , wet n wild and elf for blush, NYC bronzer, and Rimmel powder! I don't wear foundation often enough to have one I like and that genuinely works for me.

If you're new to makeup I personally suggest just doing a little bit of bb cream, or tinted moisturizer with some mascara :-)

Maybelline fit me concealer is really good if you're looking for coverage. The fit me pressed powder is good if you have dry skin!

My favorite 'powder' used to be Mally's ever color poreless clear powder but sadly, it does not give any coverage and it's a whopping forty bucks. The other day I purchased Maybelline Dream Powder because it was on sale and I was pleasantly surprised with it! It really helped cover, blur any imperfections and help me stay matte.
I'd recommend the NYX HD concealer, Elf blush, and possibly just a bb cream versus foundation!
