Lol well it's really simple honestly! You take 2cups of water, bring them to a boil. Then you add 2 little packets of tropical punch kool-aid (or cherry), and let that boil for a minute or so. pour the mixture into a bowl, and submerge the hair you want colored into the bowl. Let it sit in the mixture for about 30-40min. It's easier if you put your hair into a ponytail before putting it into the bowl.
For an ombre effect rather than a dip dye effect, reheat the mixture and place your hair into the bowl again, except this time add a little more hair (closer to your scalp) and leave in for about 15-20min. Doing this gives your hair a bright red color at the bottom, a mixture of red and brown in the middle (because of less time spent in the mixture) and then your natural brown color.
Caution: The hot water will most likely dry your ends out, so you might want to invest in an oil or hair treatment! For the first several showers the red will bleed out. That's ok, it may take some of the color away in places, but it won't strip your hair of it completely, obviously from the pic lol. Feel free to redye if you want to keep the initial ombre, if not it'll look something like my hair in the months to come. Also beware that the kool-aid, for the first few weeks, will kind of rub off onto light colored shirts/pillowcases/towels/etc. That'll stop once all of the extra kool-aid mixture is out of your hair, leaving just the color. I hope I helped you!! If you have any questions, let me know! Xx

@Tessandra, do you think if after the koolaid dying is done and you go to shower with a color safe red shampoo and conditioner that it'll stay like regular dye? Since its just the color left in your hair afterwards?

When I dyed my hair and then used the color safe line specifically for red hair, it was basically a shield that kept the color in. Just wondering if you think it'd work with koolaid lol.

Lol I don't see why not. The shampoo and conditioner are designed to keep red color in, regardless if it came from the hair section or the food section lol. So yes, I think it'd help it keep the original ombre/style/color that was done :)

Well that's cool! Emily, you should use a color safe shampoo and conditioner specifically for red hair and your color won't fade out!
