It's called ombre, and it would do a lot of damage. I wouldn't be able to tell if it would look good unless I saw a pic if your features and skin tone.

With the dye on your hair, it's going to do a lot more damage than on virgin hair. The red tones will show after so you'll have to tone as well.
The thing with ombré is that the bulk of the hair around the face is still dark, so it doesn't really "look bad" on anyone.
