Anyone else had trouble getting colorist to bleach their hair? Mine will highlight and base bump but doesn't use toner and have had several colorist say I can't get any lighter. Anyone else have a hard time lightening their hair or have suggestions on what specific treatments to request or salons in Chicago area that might actually believe me when I say I want it super light blonde???

the reason nobody in a salon is willing to lighten the hell out of your hair is because any professional will feel uncomfortable destroying your hair that bad. youre really only safe going 2 levels lighter than your natural color. once you start processing your hair any further than that, youre going to start turning your hair into the consistancy of straw. my suggestion to you, if you dont care about the risks and problems that come along with over processing your hair is to find a cosmetologist that is willing to do it outside of the salon for you.

I just see so many other girls with the lighter blondes and it looks so nice. My hair is blonde to begin with (dishwater blonde) so I wouldn't think it would be that difficult to lighten it up. Would specifically asking for toner help? I know that's helped lighten it in the past but the colorist I have has never used it. Is toner a harsh treatment?

Toner is a harsh treatment. Especially if you have lightened or treated your hair before. It's hard to get hair back to a healthy state. I would focus on getting hair completely healthy again ( or a much as you can) and then use toner if you are really wanting to!

Honestly Jeanette, I love your hair color. It suits you. If it were any lighter it wouldn't look right.

To go lighter means too much damage to your hair and the stylist's rep! I suggest using John Frieida's Sheer Blond Go Blonder hair care system.

Naturally do it, stay in the sun in the summer and it will naturally get lighter

You know theres new products more and more color lines are bringing out it does both lifting and deposit of a color and theres only about 6 shades of reds and blonds they are soo amazing and it does an even lift so if yu had yur roots yu can do just 1 application itll be even roots to ends.. Im not sure if you will understand but if you go to a salon that use WELLA's color line ask to see theyre magma collection they have veryy lightt blonds you might be looking for
