I'm wanting to re color my hair today, but I'm wondering if it's better to color it with "dirty" hair or if I should wash it now and air dry it and color it later when it's "clean" hair. Thanks!!

When it's dirty bc all the oil you have when its dirty protects you from further damaged.

Lol it doesn't really matter but the dirt n oil isn't going to protect it from anything... The chemicals are going to damage the hair regardless - but I believe hair dressers don't mind if it's a little dirty as long as there isn't a ton of product in it - it's more important if you're bleaching more than anything else I think.

Agree with M G. the oils protect your hair but your hair still does get damaged with all the chemicals.

Okay. I'm at least going to have to rinse out my hair since there's gel in it right now. I just wasn't sure if I should take the extra step to full out wash it or just rinse it then color it.

If you rinse it out you can apply coconut oil after and thtll protect it as well good luck.

Yea I'll try that then, thanks girl!

Some dyes won't take to hair with oil or serums in since those are designed to protect the hair from damage obviously so I always wash my hair just with shampoo since conditioners have the same effect, then wait a day so it gets dirtier. Too dirty might have build up of those oils and dirt the same as before, however lots of dyes recommend dirty hair so whatever you feel is best :)
