A lot of people don't realize that you can develop an allergy to a product or item that you've used a thousand times in the past. This just happened to me, and I hope that by sharing the situation and what I'm doing, it may help someone who finds themselves in the same predicament.
Background:
I've used the Freeman Avocado and Oatmeal mask a hundred times and love the way it leaves me with bright skin. Tonight I used it like I always have-- applied thinly all over my face, let it dry for a few minutes, wash off with warm water. Except, everything went pear shaped when I rinsed it off.
Uh-oh:
My face is ON FYAH right now, and I can see plainly where the mask was on my skin. Oddly, it didn't burn or anything while it was on, and I didn't feel anything strange while rinsing it off. My face just went flaming red, and I can feel hives forming on my neck.
What to do:
I've got calamine lotion on now, I've taken an antihistamine, and I'm doing a cold compress/damp dressing. Hopefully this will clear up within a few hours or a few days, though reactions can last up to a week or longer.
Let this be a reminder to everyone that even if you've used something in the past with no issues, you can still develop an allergy without warning. Always have remedies on hand and be prepared to seek medical attention if it gets worse!

Ouch :( I understand 100% what you're going through. My skin hates everything lol. I've been to an allergist and there's a fancy word for what I have (I just can't remember how to spell it lol) but my skin basically gets bitchy about things touching it so half the time water touching my skin will cause nasty itchy hives. So I've dealt with a lot of those fire burning feelings from products I use all the time.
If it's itchy or burning afterwards/tomorrow try an oatmeal mask. Just plain oats blended/crushed with some water. It really soothes. As soon as I get a reaction I put oatmeal on it and take an allergy pill. It really helps.

I remember when I had such a reaction. It lasted me a week until the swollen skin got back to normal :(. (it was during the holidays and I refused to go outside because I thought my face looked terrible) I used the Freeman mask yesterday for the first time, but I don't think I'll use it soon :P plus I didn't like it that much anyway.

I had something like that from my new face cream. I have an iodine allergy and I didn't know that sometimes it can be in makeup things. http://stopallergyguide.com/iodine-allergy/ I treated it with pills and threw away the cream.
