Eyeshadows are specifically formulated for wear around the eye. Pigments can be used for eyeshadows if they are approved eye safe by MAC, they can be used on the lips to create really bright and dramatic lip color, as blush, and added to nail polish to create custom colors. Pigments are versatile, and there are probably dozens of things I haven't even listed here that you can do with them.
