Need help deciding on a winter formal dress!

Hey everyone! My winter formal is in January so I need to start looking for a dress so if I need to order it online or can't find one quickly I have time. I have no idea what kind of dress I want. The only thing I know is that I want a short dress (not overly short though). I have long light brown hair and hazel eyes. Any suggestions on dresses that would go good with that(: thanks!!
